How to integrate different search engines with Google Chrome

When you input any query, the Chrome address bar chooses Google as the default search engine. A search query cannot be entered until after you have visited the website you desire to search.

To make searching your favorite websites quicker and easier, you may add websites to Chrome as custom search engines. The instructions below will help you install custom search engines to Chrome.

How to Configure Google Chrome to Use a Custom Search Engine

You must change your browser's options if you wish to configure Google to use a custom search engine.

In order to configure Chrome's custom search engine:

1. Open Chrome and select menu from the top-right corner (1).

2. Choose Settings (2)

3. In the left pane, click Search engine (1).

4. Go to the right and select Manage search engines (2)./p>

5. When utilizing the keyword you entered for your custom search engine, choose whether to use the Space or Tab key or just the Tab key (1) under Keyboard shortcut.

6. To begin developing your personal search engine, click Add to the right of Other search engines (2).

7.Go to the website for which you want to build a custom search engine in a new tab. We'll configure GroovyPost as an example of a custom search engine.

8.On the website, click the Search option. Type your search word and hit Enter. It makes no difference what you look for.

9. The URL should be selected and copied from the address bar.

NOTE: Although Chrome doesn't show the whole URL in the address bar by default, selecting it and copying it will copy the complete URL. Additionally, you have the option to make the address bar always display the complete URL.

Step 10 : Substituting %s for the search word will produce the URL required for the custom search engine. An illustration

https://eljaucode.blogspot.com/search?q=windows+10 becomes "https://eljaucode.blogspot.com/search?q=%q"

1. Return to the Settings tab; the prompt for adding a search engine should be there.

2. In the box labeled "Search engine," type the name of the search engine. When the search is initiated using the keyword, this name appears.

3. Type your desired keyword into the Keyword field for the search engine. When you write this, the search will start.

5. Paste the website URL that you copied into the URL field after making the necessary changes.

6. Click Add.

How to Use Custom Searches with the Keyword and Tab

You may now utilize the address bar to search your favorite website using the newly introduced custom search engine.

Using the newly added search engine, run a search as follows:

7.Depending on the Keyboard shortcut you used when configuring the custom search engine, type the keyword followed by a space or a tab. When the custom search engine icon appears, enter any search term you wish to use.

8. You can now insert any search term into the custom search engine icon once it has appeared.

How to Change the Search Engine You Use by Default to a Custom Search Engine

You can change the default search engine if you frequently use one of the websites you've selected as custom search engines. The address bar can now be used to search that website without first entering the phrase. To set a specific search engine as the default:

1. In Chrome, click the menu symbol in the top-right to access the Settings menu.

2. In the Settings menu, select Search Engines > Manage search engines.

3.Click the three dots symbol next to the personalized search engine you created in the Other search engines section.

5.Click Make default.

The custom search you chose as the default is now used whenever you can enter a search phrase in the address bar without first inputting the keyword.

The same approach can be used to set any search engine as the default. The custom search you added gets relegated to the list of Other search engines if you choose to make a different search engine the default. Customizing the Google Chrome Experience You may simply add new custom search engines to Google Chrome by following the steps above and visiting any website. You may add as many custom search engines as you like, making it quick and simple to search your favorite websites.
